Installation guide

To prevent splitting due to installed panels drying out, it is important for the temperature and moisture content of the wood to be the same as in the room where the panels are going to be installed. Leave the panels loosely stacked for a while in the room where they will be used before installation.

Sound planning ensures success

When you plan and purchase mouldings, take into account the extra material required during installation. Because mouldings have to be mitred at the corners just before fitting, you will need slightly more material.

The above table shows the amount of wood consumed using ordinary panel boards. Offcuts are not included because their length may vary considerably. Normally the waste is around 10%. Panels can also be purchased cut-to-size to reduce waste.

Note also that wood mouldings and panels that have not been stored at room temperature should be given time to adjust to the new temperature and moisture conditions before installation. The recommended period is 1-2 weeks, depending on the weather conditions and the moisture content of the wood.

MDF mouldings and panels are installation-ready when taken out of the packaging.
